Orama Hotel Santorini Review
About The Orama Santorini
We stayed at The Orama Hotel & Spa with Jet2holidays. We’ll start by saying photos and descriptions online don’t do this place justice. Choosing a hotel somewhere new for the first time is always difficult, but we can honestly say Orama Santorini is just lovely with a laid-back vibe and classy too. We have no issues in recommending this beautiful hotel.
The Orama Hotel Santorini is perfectly located close to the island’s capital, Fira (also known as Thira). It’s just a 5-10 minute walk down the main road into the town. Also far enough away to be nice and quiet – the best of both worlds. It’s also a perfect location for exploring the island with a hire car as we did. Free parking is provided down the side of the Hotel.
The front desk is open 24 hours, which was good as we didn’t arrive until 11pm. We had a warm welcome from the reception staff, everything was perfectly explained, and our bags were taken from our hire car straight to the room, where the room facilities were explained to us, great service. All the hotel staff are super friendly and courteous, with genuine Greek hospitality.
Orama Hotel Santorini is a modern luxury hotel that blends traditional Cycladic architecture with stylish and chic modern design. It’s all very aesthetically pleasing. It’s the perfect hotel for a tranquil, relaxing stay to fully recharge your batteries in stunning surroundings. Don’t expect any evening entertainment, if you want that head into Fira, just a short walk away.
The property is spotlessly clean and the gardens are immaculately landscaped.

Outdoor Swimming Pools
Lower Tier Pool
Orama Hotel Santorini offers 3 stunning freshwater outdoor pools, so you’ll be spoilt for choice. The lower-tier pool near our room was nice and quiet during our stay with just a handful of guests.
Middle Pool
The middle pool is a very shallow, beach entry pool, so it’s ideal for young children or if you just want to have a paddle.
Upper Tier Pool
The biggest pool is on the upper tier and is really distinct with huge Bali style double day beds, padded sun beds and beanbags to relax on.
There are plenty of sunbeds at the pools with parasols for shade and staff on hand to put these up for you. It’s a perfect setting to relax, unwind and soak up the sun. We never had an issue getting a sun bed, perhaps it’s a bit different in the summer months? As we were visiting in May, the quieter shoulder season.
After you’ve had a refreshing dip you can order a Mediterranean salad, pizza or a Greek dish from the poolside bar. One lunch dish will easily serve 2 people, as the portions are generous. Waiting staff will bring you drinks like a glass of a local Santorini wine right to your pool table.
The pool areas look amazing, especially at night.
Restaurant & Pool Bar
The main restaurant is where breakfast, lunch and dinner is served. The restaurant food is exceptional for a hotel. The dishes are delicious and just as good (if not better) as some of the expensive restaurants we tried in Fira.
Dinner is served from 7.30-10.30pm. The evening a la carte menu lists Greek and Mediterranean dishes including fresh fish and meat.
We especially enjoyed going for dinner to be greeted with a big smile from Christina who was a hoot, we really enjoyed giggles with her. Our waiter, Illias was very attentive noticing we had ordered the same cocktails as yesterday. A Tentura Zombie for Garth and a Lava for Phil, Just like a Negroni but with a Greek twist (chocolate ruby added). The staff here go above and beyond to make sure guests have a memorable stay and keen to answer any questions about the food or make recommendations.
The ambience at night on the terrace is lovely with good music. We tried a few different dishes including pork gyros and sea bass with celeriac sauce.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served from 8.00-10.30am with a good variety of continental options including cereal, cold meats and cheeses which are well presented. Plus a wide selection of fresh fruit, cakes, pastries and breads for toast. Nice to have proper toasters, not the dreaded conveyor belt ones!
Hot options include pancakes and a full English-style buffet, whilst the omelette station serves up a freshly cooked option. Everything is good quality, the hardest bit is deciding what to eat each morning with so much choice! There’s a bit of something for everyone, including Vegan options.
Traditional Greek food options are available and changed everyday. The traditional feta and spinach pie went down particularly well, delicious. We also tried Dolmadakia – vine leaves stuffed with rice and feta. Phil enjoyed the Kataifi – thin shredded pastry with cheese inside, drizzled with honey, almost like a dessert.
Coffee is ok from the machines, but you can also order nicer coffee for free from the barista at the bar.
Orama Spa
The Orama Spa is a lovely space for relaxing if you want to indulge in one of their treatments. Their menu includes hot stone massages, body wraps, Swedish and Thai massages. If you book a treatment you have access to the indoor pool which has jacuzzi bubbles at both ends of it.
Fitness Centre
We are not exactly gym bunnies so we didn’t use it, so here are a few photos instead 😅 Oh and it’s spotlessly clean.
Orama Sunsets
If you’re seeking to witness an iconic Santorini sunset, as we were (it’s on our bucket list) just head out of the hotel entrance and cross the road for a breathtaking caldera view as the sun goes down.

Our Superior Double Room
The Orama Hotel & Spa has 6 room types – Standard Double, Superior Double, Junior Suite, Suite, Deluxe Sea View and Family Suite. We stayed in a Superior Double room. It was fabulous – spacious enough for the two of us with a contemporary feel, very minimalist but stylish decor. The lighting is perfect and ambient, with no bare light bulbs, just how it should be!
The room features air-conditioning, big screen TV with a good mix of channels (Greek and International), safety deposit box, fridge, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine, hairdryer, wardrobe with slippers and bathrobes (handy if you are using the spa) and a bathroom with separate toilet and shower room. One of our pet hates is low pressure showers, the shower here is amazing, super powerful and perfectly hot every day 10/10. The toiletries provided are nice and the shampoo, shower gel products are topped up daily.
We had a balcony, with 2 chairs, a table and a lovely view of the pool. The windows and the terrace doors are double-glazed with black out shutters so we had a perfect night’s sleep every night. The double bed and pillows were super comfy, but a little bit soft for Phil’s liking, there’s also a spare duvet in the wardrobe.
The room was extremely clean and the staff left 2 big bottles of water in the room every day. Our only negative point is cleaning staff replace the fluffy towels with new ones every day, perhaps there could be a greener option for guests who want to be more environmentally friendly?
Final thoughts about our Orama stay
Staying at the Orama Hotel and Spa in Santorini is an indulgent escape. It has exceptional service from all the staff, they made it special and we enjoyed the bants and chatting with them. We also enjoyed relaxing by the pools and exploring Santorini’s best photo spots with our hire car during the day. Orama offers a perfect blend of comfort and sophistication, making it an ideal sanctuary for a memorable holiday.
If you fancy a trip here why not check out Jet2holidays they have loads of options for holidays to Santorini, and not just the Orama Hotel.

We stayed for 5 nights in May which is Santorini’s shoulder season. It means the island is quieter without the summer peak crowds. Temperatures are still excellent. It was 28ºC most days when we stayed. We only had one cloudy day with showers.
We flew with Jet2 from Manchester. Jet2 have various flights during the week from Manchester, so check them out. If you want to fly from another UK airport, again check out Jet2 as they have lots of flights to Santorini from different UK airports.
